What Are Solo Ads & How You Can Use Them To Build A List

Solo ads are one of the fastest ways to build your own email list and make money on the net.

They’ve been at the top of my favorite ‘go-to’ methods for getting traffic to my websites for ages.

Here’s a short video teaching you about Solo Ad Basics & Must-Do’s When Using Solo Ads

Unfortunately, there are a lot of scammers out there who deliver garbage solo traffic.
I have been burned on a TON of Solo ads that I’ve bought over the years. It’s not a nice feeling.

It actually made me HATE solo ads for a while. But not all are bad. Luckily, I’ve been able to sort the wheat from the chaff.

Here is a list of reliable, quality Solo ad vendors that I and a business associate have used and compiled.

That will really help you as it will allow you to skip the time consuming and expensive trial and error phase of solo ad buying.

And also remember to TRACK everything.

Good luck and keep trying with solo ads. Not every one will be a home run. You need to test and tweak. More insights on that topic for another blog post.

My Leads Leap Review – How I’ve Gotten More Than 79,000 Clicks

Leads Leap is one of the rare, long-time Advertising resources for Internet marketers which has become better and better over the years.

I’ve been a happy member for around 8 years and I’ve continued to receive high quality traffic (Over 79K visitors to my websites and counting) and leads from it.

What is Leads Leap?

It’s a text link advertising exchange platform for Internet marketers in the ‘make money online’ niche. You can advertise your websites, affiliate links and programs, and get real visitors.

With the upgrade to 2.0, they’ve introduced a traffic exchange so you can earn credits (clicks) by clicking on other members’ ads.

They offer free ads (for free members) and Pro ads for Pro members which get a whole lot more exposure than free member ads.

I’m a Pro member, so I pay the $27 per month to have my ads running on autopilot. This is a small price to pay for the peace of mind of having non-stop traffic and leads. Plus the commissions I earn each month from referrals, more than pays for my membership.

How I’ve Gotten Over 79,000 Clicks From Leads Leap

Join Leads Leap Here: http://www.stuartstirlingonline.com/likes/leadsleap

My traffic has grown over the years, because I’ve been building my downline and my ads show to those in my downline.

LeadsleapUniques

I’m getting about 25 to 35 unique visitors per day to my sites. My site gets about a 5% sign up rate from cold traffic, so that means about 2 new fresh leads a day.

How To Set Up Your Ads

Where Are Your Ads Shown?

1) On the Leads Leap blog, (check out the blog here)

2) Inside the Member’s Area (sidebar),

3) Inside the Newsletter Emails to the members,

4) On the LeadsLeap Widget which is placed on more than 4000 websites, (I’ve got my Leads leap widget at the bottom of this post)

5) In the Ad widget in The Real Tracker (a click tracking tool available to leads leap members).

And, I’ve Made Over $4,013 In Affiliate Commissions By Referring Others

Another reason to love Leads leap is the affiliate (referral) program that pays out 50% (I think that’s right) commissions on Pro member upgrades. And it’s RECURRING commissions, which is what I’m all about. My monthly commission pays for my pro membership with leaves me with a lot left over.

Pro Tips

Advertise your squeeze page. Don’t advertise someone else’s website as an affiliate. The exception is something like 30 Minute list where you can build your list while promoting.

Track your ads. Use tracking links (I use Ad trackz Gold) to track clicks, conversions and sales. See the Video #2 above for the kind of tracking I do.

How To Install Thee Leads Leap Widget to Get Free Traffic

After signing up for your account, you’ll be able to create a widget and get the code to put on your website. (My widget is below this post).

Every impression and click you generate earns you credits which turns into advertising for you in the network. So, installing the widget is an important step because it’s what makes the system work.

Where to Sign Up

Here is my affiliate link to Join Leads Leap.

http://www.stuartstirlingonline.com/likes/leadsleap

First, you sign up for a free account, then you’ll see an offer to upgrade to Pro at a discounted rate for the first 14 (?) days after you sign up.

Try the Pro membership. It’s well worth it if you, a) use the ads/traffic to build your list, b) refer others and earn commissions.

Watch this space for more videos and info about Leads Leap. There is actually much more to it than I have put here so far.

How To Start An Affiliate Marketing Business In One Day

… and I should add, even if it’s your first day online, and only have $50 or less to spend.

And I’m not talking about getting in a “home business” program. They’re fine if you want to get started in the “home business” niche…but…

I want to give you a formula you can use for ANY niche you decide to enter into.

Follow the steps below and you’ll feel like this guy at the end of the day…

IRock-StuartStirling

I was recently asked by a customers who is trying to promote a weight loss product – acai berries to be exact.

She asked me the best ways to promote her affiliate link without buying ads, or without using article marketing because article directories won’t allow any articles that promote or talk about acai berries!

I gave my advice in a couple of steps….

1.  If article marketing is out, get traffic with Youtube videos.  Create videos with helpful content about acai berries and weight loss and upload them, with your titles containing keywords.

2. Put a link in the description to a lead generation page (squeeze page). When they land on your squeeze page, offer them a free “giveaway” product if they optin to your email list (autoresponder). For example, a free teaser report about the benefits or dangers of acai berries.

The other option, and this is much more effective for cold traffic (i.e. traffic from Youtube) is to make the offer on your squeeze page “blind copy”.

Blind copy means you don’t actually let the reader know that you’re talking about acai berries – You hide the fact that it’s anything to do with acai berries and just refer to it as a “weight loss super food”, or something along those lines. The main reason for using blind copy is to muster up some curiosity in their mind so the reader can’t help but to opt-in in to learn more.

3. Another way to drive traffic for free would be by posting in weight loss or mummy, chat forums and social media sites (groups).. and putting your link in your forum signature file! Again you want to send people to your squeeze page so you build your email list. Your email list is your most important asset as an internet marketer. With a list, you can follow-up with them at any time and use the emails to build that all-important relationship.

So that’s the ‘what to do’….

The ‘how to do it’ is explained in this next part.

This involves actually going out and doing work. However, none of these tasks are overly technical or require a phd in computer science. Admittedly, these are the bare essentials, but they’re enough to get you started running a proper, reliable affiliate marketing business.

  1. Write a 5~10 page report in Word about acai berries and how they help you burn fat.
  2. Turn your report into a PDF using Doc2pdf.net
  3. Get an ecover for it on fiverr.com
  4. Use a site like 1MinuteSites.com to create your landing pages (squeeze pages etc),
  5. Get an autoresponder (email management software) like Aweber or Pure Leverage so you can start your list building
  6. Focus on the traffic methods I explained above to promote and give away the free report.

That there is a quick outline of a basic, but complete affiliate marketing business model. You could literally get this kind of business up and running in one day and for less than $50.

Internet marketing doesn’t need to be complex. You just need the right pieces in place. I’ve listed the bare essentials of how to set up a list building system and two examples of how to promote  for free, apart from article marketing.

Squeeze Page Split Test Results Round TWO!

A couple of weeks ago I posted some results of a very surprising split test with my weight loss list building campaign.

After finding the winner of that split test, I decided to run a new split test with the winner of that going against another squeeze page.

Again, two completely different pages, but essentially offering the same thing.

Here are the results of Test 2 for you to check out and analyze!!

THE TEST

The New Skool Squeeze Page (2-Step Optin Form)

Winner of Test 1, Made with 1 Minute Sites

splittestTWOnewskool

VERSUS

Old Skool SIMPLE Squeeze Page

Winner of Test 2, made with a free HTML editor and a stock image!

splittestTWOsimple

I used Ad Trackz Gold again to run my split test. I love that tool.

splittest_results_2nd_test

This again surprised me because it was the exact same traffic as I was getting for the first test.

I was running the same ads on the same PPC network.

Another interesting factor is that the winner of this test (SIMPLE old skool page) is NOT mobile optimized whereas the New skool made with 1 Minute Sites is.

I guess for a simple page like this, it still looks reasonably good on a mobile device so it still converted on mobile traffic.

The BIG HEADLINE really stands out no matter which device you use to look at it.

Why am I showing you my results?

I’m not worried if you copy these pages. Heck I don’t even mind if you copy them word for word, but if you do, TEST other versions and keep testing  until you find something that beats these! It probably won’t be very hard. These pages literally took me minutes to create.

I find it fascinating to see the results of split testing and this data is PRICELESS. Marketing is a numbers game so if you can pump up the numbers you’re going to me making more $$$.

Of course there are other immeasurable factors that go into marketing success, but for the most part, get the numbers right and you’ll have success.

Let me know your thoughts, questions and comments below!

You can see the results from the first split test here if you haven’t done so yet.

Surprising Results! Results From My Squeeze Page Split Test

For the past year, I was running an ugly old skool squeeze page my Weight loss site.

Ugly graphics, the works. You can see it below.

I recently decided to fire back up some traffic to my weight loss squeeze pages because I want to focus on building my list bigger in that niche again.

Everyone Loves Split Testing!

Seeing how split testing is “all the rage” right now (it has been forever actually) I pulled my finger out and created a nice, sleek new skool squeeze page using 1 minute sites to run against my old template.

The whole purpose of split testing is to find the better converting page. In this case, I wanted to find the best converting squeeze page so I would get the most subscribers from my advertising (traffic) dollars.

Here’s a preview of the two pages I split tested.

New skool template is on the top. I used 1 minute sites to create it in literally a couple of minutes. It’s one of those flashy 2-step optin pages when the user clicks the button and an optin form pops up.

The old skool one looks like it was made in 2007 (it probably was). The template came from a PLR package. I just modified the copy and slapped my optin form code on it.

THE TEST

OLD SKOOL VS. NEW SKOOL

splittest

As with any split test I run, I had no idea which would convert better.

Sometimes you can get a pretty close prediction, but no-one ever does know which page will convert better until you test it.

I was actually thinking the old skool one would convert better.

But to my surprise the new skool template converted almost TWICE AS BETTER!

And the winner is….

optin page split test

The loser was the old skool template.. so guess what I’m doing with that?! It’s going in the recycle bin.

loser

I used Ad Trackz Gold to run the split test. Here are the detailed numbers…

splittest_results

To be honest, I only started split testing and tracking stuff about 18 months ago. Big rookie mistake (that I was committing for almost 5 years! doh!)

TIP: If you’re serious about your business, you’ve got to track and split test too – unless you like throwing money down the toilet.

Why such a big difference in conversion rates?

I am not entirely sure. The copy is almost the same. The headline on the new page has the word FREE in it. That could have made a difference.

My biggest suspicion is that the new skool squeeze page I made with 1 minute sites is MOBILE RESPONSIVE (optimized for mobile… it looks great on a mobile phone or tablet.) whereas the old skool template is not.

Especially in the weight loss crowd I was targeting, the majority of traffic was coming from mobile. (mobile traffic is crushing it no matter what niche)

My ads were running on all platforms (desktop & mobile) and I wasn’t able (or I just don’t know how to) segment my ads to use both separately.

In other ads in the weight loss niche I’ve run on Facebook, (the test above wasn’t using FB, but another PPC ad network) about 800% more traffic came from mobile.

The short story, YOU MUST HAVE mobile responsive page if you want a good conversion rate. That’s a great thing about 1 minute sites which I used to create the New skool squeeze page.

You hear talk from marketers saying this is better and you should do this, but one thing I’ve learned is that you just never know how well a page will convert until you test it.

Marketing is not some magic voodoo thing that only the ‘lucky’ can succeed at. It’s a numbers game largely. It takes a little extra work to run tests, but you really need to if you want to succeed.

Leave your thoughts and comments below.

Santa’s Top List Building Tips

Merry Christmas, for a couple of days ago!

I love this time of year, mainly for the giving and receiving of presents and being able to spend a happy time chilling with my family.

As you probably know, Santa Claus has perhaps the biggest “list” this side of the moon!

Santa

He’s actually an amazing direct marketer.

Santa’s got a great understanding of his customers, he knows every boy’s and girl’s innermost wishes, he takes their orders and delivers their products on time.

But the most important part is that the products are exactly what the customers (kids) want – so of course they are super happy.

That would sure make a for low return rate ; )

Ok, I admit, I don’t know all of Santa’s marketing secrets, but let’s just take a look to see if we can steal any marketing tips from Santa

Since I am an avid Email marketer and have created several products and tools to help you with List Building, let’s use that topic as a base to work upon.

As you probably know, Email is still very powerful in the direct marketing world. Yes, even though there is Facebook and Twitter and SMS etc, Email is still crushing social media – and I predict it will continue to do so for quite some time yet.

But what has changed with Email marketing this year in 2013?

A lot actually. From Gmail introducing their “tabs” to just people in general becoming more and more ‘busy’ with social networking and other of those types of messaging platforms.

This is how I see the two biggest challenges we’re facing in email marketing heading into 2014.

1) how to get our prospects to hand over their best email address

2) how to keep readers active and buying again and again

I know… I know… these have always been the main objectives but now even more so these days..

First, the key is to get their BEST email address.

I hope you are aware that your customers most probably have their ‘good’ email address they use for important emails  (the one they give to friends, family and other ‘trusted’ people ) –  and then they have their  “spam catcher” email address they NEVER check which they just use to sign up to stuff they don’t really care about or don’t trust.

People are not dumb… they know and despise Spam with a passion and they that signing up to anything is going to mean “more email.. great!”

So there is no way in hell they’re going to give away their best email to any un-trusted source.

So that’s the main thing here.

Become a trusted source.

How do you do that?

It’s simple, but not necessarily easy.

1) To get their best email, you’re going to have to come up with something that will engage them over the long term.

If you’re offering just a one-time download, you can write off the chance of getting their best email. They’ll probably just use their ‘spam catcher’ email to get your product that one time and then it’s ‘sayonara’!

2) Once you have their best email, the next challenge is to keep their interest piqued. This is quite simple compared to the first: Simply, don’t send crap. Email daily, email twice in one day, it’s great IF your emails are awesome. Just be aware that your customers can and will unsubscribe the moment they lose their taste for what you send.

If there is one tip I can give you about what kind of emails to send, it’s to send “entertaining” emails.

Stories, jokes, quotes, facts, stats, etc.. these are things we enjoy reading.

Sales pitch after sales pitch is not. Yeah it’s ok for a few days, but can get boring real fast.

Think about this for a sec… who’s emails do you open up and read first?

1) An email from your best buddy with info about the weekend fishing trip,

or b) a no-named marketer who has been sending you the same email since the day you got on his list, where he’s trying to sell you an ebook on “how to write and sell a kindle book”

I can bet email ‘b’ won’t even last 2 minutes in the inbox as the recipient goes down and clicks delete, delete, delete…

As an email marketer, you must build rapport with your customer.

Become one of their ‘best buds’ who they look out for emails from.

If you can’t, your emails are going to hit the trash box faster than Santa can say “Merry Christmas”.

Would you look out for emails from Santa? I sure would.

Would you have any second thoughts giving your best email to Santa? I wouldn’t.

Have A Product/Information/Service So Awesome That People Would Line Up To Give Your Their Email & Beg You To Send Them Emails About It!

The best marketers are those who help people improve their lives. If you have something people are begging for, your job as an email marketer, or any other type of method you use, will become a lot easier.

All the best for a prosperous 2014!
