How I Got A Page One Google Listing In Less Than 2 Hours

Google Hangout!

It’s how I got a page 1 listing in less than a couple of hours with a 5 minute ‘Hangout’. See the proof below:

This good news comes at a great time because RunClick webinar plugin which works with WordPress and Google Hangouts has just been released.

I am affiliate promoting the plugin so I thought it would be fitting to actually make a Hangout to promote a plugin that works with Hangouts.

The whole idea behind this particular video was to explain the bonus package for customers who purchase the plugin through my affiliate link. So the keywords I chose to target was “runclick bonus”.

After recording the Hangout (I didn’t even have to upload it because it automatically is listed in my Youtube account within minutes of ending), I went to check a few search terms and, BOOM!! My Hangout was there!

I’ve been hearing marketers go on about Hangouts and how you can rank quickly and easily with them, and now I can can attest to the fact. Hangouts rank!

first page of google with a hangout

(UPDATE: Two days later and my Hangout is still ranked on page 1… although it has dropped a few spots… a few social bookmarks with Socialadr should fix that though.)

There is no better time to get started with Hangouts if you’re not already. They are amazing for not only SEO, but for connecting with your audience, building up your brand and credibility and for selling things too!

To run your Hangouts like a pro, go with Runclick. For just a one time fee, you can run unlimited webinars with unlimited seating. Other companies like GotoWebinar will cost you hundreds each month and have a limit to their maximum capacity.

Walt Bayliss (another fellow Aussie marketer) is the man behind it and his products and training is super solid. I grabbed the complete Runclick package from him and I highly recommend it.

If you decide to buy Runclick, do it through this page so you qualify for the bonuses. Make sure to pick up the developers licence and the templates too so you get the very most out of the system.

To your success,
Stuart Stirling

Hidden Free Traffic Source

No one is talking about this free traffic source. It’s the Warrior forum blog. If you’ve got a Warrior forum account, you’ve got a blog you can post articles to.

Remember article ‘Bum’ marketing? Where you posted articles to Ezine articles and made Squidoo lenses and you got all that free Search traffic?

Guess what, that kind of traffic is still out there!

Warrior Forum is a PR4 site – so Google loves it. Google indexes Warrior Forum pages like there is no tomorrow.

If you’re posting unique content on your WF blog, no doubt Google will pick it up and your posts will get views, just like mine have over the years. (note to self: I posted these articles years ago! I need to post more!)

warriorforumblogtraffic

The numbers are a bit hard to see in this screen shot, but I’ve had 1493 views on one article.

The other posts are around the same 1000 view mark!

How does this equate to traffic?

Just like the ‘Bum’ marketing method, you put your links back to your website inside the article.

You can add hyperlinked images and of course text anywhere inside your article.

There are no restrictions (that I’m aware of) about what you can post on your WF blog.

You’ll get a percentage of readers clicking through to your website from these links.

I’ve not tracked the number of clicks to my websites so I can’t tell you the exact numbers.

The number of clicks you get to your website will depend on where your links are and what they look like.

And of course, how relevant your website is to the content that you’re posting.

So to break it down into steps, here’s how to get traffic from your WF blog.

1. Create a free account at Warrior Forum if you haven’t got one yet

2. Go to http://www.warriorforum.com/blogs/YOURUSERNAME/

3. Click the “Post to your blog” link in the left sidebar

WFposttoblog

4. Post something awesome to your WF blog!

Keyword research and all that is important. If you’re relying on Google to send you the traffic, then yes, do your Keyword research!

Don’t dismiss the traffic flowing through from Warrior Forum itself though. The WF is a traffic powerhouse. If you’re active in the Forum discussions, a percentage of the traffic will click through to your profile and check out your posts and blog entries.

What I love about this traffic is that it’s set and forget. It’s free targeted traffic that will trickle in for years like it has already been doing.

It’s not going to get you an instant flood so if that’s what you’re looking for, you’d better try buying some PPC or email traffic.

It’s a long-term method, but as you can see, it works. Try it out!

Stuart Stirling

p.s. This is not just limited to the Warrior Forum and the ‘internet marketing’ niche. I’m positive that you can use this free traffic method in ANY niche where there is an authoritative forum.

How To Do Link Exchanges To Get Free Website Traffic And Backlinks & How To Automate It

Automation is the key to running a successful online business. I’m going to tell you about Link exchanges, why it’s one of, if not THE best set and forget traffic generation methods, and how you can automate it.

Trading links with other websites is a highly effective way to generate a constant flow of quality visitors. You don’t have to spend a cent on advertising with this method. All you have to do is make contact and reach an agreement with the webmaster of the site you want to trade links with.

I’ve blogged about how I’ve been doing link trading with several with other website owners and we both benefit from the extra traffic and backlink, so I know it works.

There are some tools out there which automate the link trading process, such as LinkTradr plugin for WordPresss. You simply install this on your WP site and it creates a hands-free link exchange system.

Here is a tip when exchanging links – you want to trade with other quality sites, and relative sites to yours. Google looks at these things and when done right, both you and your link partner can benefit from the SEO, because as you know, Google and other search engines take backlinks into account to rank your site.

On the other hand, the volume of traffic will also increase from your link trades. This is a two way street because you and your link swap partner will both benefit from the referral traffic and SEO. The more sites you trade links with, the more your traffic and authority (backlinks) your site gets.

When using automated link trades tools such as LinkTradr, you can make light work of link exchanging. It makes it faster and easier so you can simply do more. Learn more about LinkTradr plugin for WordPress here.

Is This The Most Simple Way To Get Free, Long-Term, Quality Website Traffic?

On a daily basis I get people asking me “how do I get traffic?” their websites.

Here’s a quick video teaching you the method of ‘link exchanging‘ – or ‘link trading’.. there are several names it goes by.

The name is pretty self explanatory and if you’re wondering, it actually does work! Especially if you’re using a tool to automate and manage your link trades with a tool like LinkTradr.

I have been doing link trades since the beginning of my online marketing career and it’s still effective today in sending me quality clicks.

This method of link swapping is nothing new but the benefits are outrageous.

  • You get direct traffic from the site your link is on
  • You get a backlink
  • You get to build a [email protected] with your link swap partner
  • It’s free
  • You don’t need software or mad SEO skills to pull it off

The only bad thing is that you need to make sure of two things..

  1. Your link partner isn’t going to tear down the site or change it next week
  2. Your link partner’s blog or site gets enough traffic

Simple right? So go out there and try it!

It is literally a 5-minute method (even faster when using LinkTradr) that can have super duper traffic affects that last months or years.

In my case, years because these links have been on each other’s blogs for years.

All the best!

Can You Really Get People To Your Site Without Spending Money Or Time On SEO?

This week’s question comes from Stephen:

He wants to know, “How do I get people to my sites without spending money and tons of time on seo?”

free easy fast trafficHere’s my answer below…

“Hi Stephen, Thanks for your question.

This is every marketers burning question! It’s a quest we are all on and only wish for free effortless traffic.

The answer is… it doesn’t really exist! Sorry if I burst your bubble of hope and lazy traffic and sales.

However, the closest thing to free fast, easy traffic is viral traffic. To benefit from viral traffic, you need some kind of viral system in place on your website. It can be a video or viral PDF or content locking script so other people will share it..

There are some tools that can help you make a page go viral but it really depends on the thing that you create that gets passed around. It has to have value and your people must want it, love it and think it’s good enough to share it around.

If you can’t get anything viral going, you’re gonna have to pay for traffic if you want it fast. The options there are solo ads, PPC, banner ads, media buys, etc.

There are ways to swap traffic too.. link swaps, email swaps, but first you need to get traffic to get the ball rolling, and then you’ll be able to swap it… and that comes from either buying it or spending time to generate it.

SEO is a good investment if you can afford it and can wait for rankings and traffic, but if you don’t have the time to do it yourself, you can outsource it. Search engine traffic is highly targeted an if you do it right, it will continue to drip into your site for months or even years.

But its like anything, the more you put into it, the more you get out of it.”

That’s all for this week’s lesson.

Remember, nothing really is free. You pay for it with either your time or your money. At first, you may not have a lot of money to spend to generate traffic, but you have the time so you should do it yourself . When you start seeing income coming in, invest your profits back into your business to get more traffic and increase your profits. That’s when you’ll see your biz really moving.

Success Starts With Learning The Basics

Too many times, beginners get caught up with purchasing the latest ‘shiny new object’ when all they really need is to learn the basics first.

They try to make money with the latest Facebook App or the latest WP plugin before they even get a simple website up and traffic.

Internet marketing is not a race. Although you might feel like you need or should be making money fast. Believe it or not (and ask anyone) it takes time and a lot of hard work.

Start wth the basicsStart with learning the basics. Learn to walk before you run. You’ll be able to go far with just some simple website building and marketing skills.

Here is a simple lesson about the basics of creating an internet business and online marketing. Learning these skills, you can build yourself a successful internet business.

Step 1. Find or create a product you want to sell online.

This can be a product you’ve created or someone elses you can promote as an affiliate. Ultimately, you should be aiming to create a product of your own. I love and recommend the digital info-product business. It’s how I make 95% of my money online and it’s awesome because it’s 99% fully automatic. No shipping, no products to constantly create. I get paid instantly and my customers download it anytime like clockwork – even when I’m asleep.

Digital products are easy and cheap to create too. Ebooks, audios, articles, videos, graphics, templates, software – these are all examples of hot selling digital products. And once you make them, you can sell them over and over again. Find what people want to buy and create a simple digital product about it. Internet millionaires have been made by following this simple business model.

Step 2. Build a website to act as your 24/7 online sales person.

Don’t listen to anyone who says otherwise. You need a website if you want to be a successful online marketer.

I know newbies get hung up on website set up because of the find it difficult to learn the technical stuff like FTP, domain names, hosting and Autoresponder systems etc. but it’s this basic skill that once you learn, you’ll be able to use to take your internet business far.

To sell your product, set up a website, write a sales letter and place your order button on it. Copywriting is also one of those important fundamental skills you need to learn to be successful as an online marketer. If you really want to get rich, learn to become a good copywriter!

If you’re selling online as an affiliate, create a website centered around that particular niche and position yourself as an expert in that field. Using WordPress makes it easy and quick to build an affiliate site. If you have good helpful content and can build solid traffic to that site using SEO and/or viral marketing, you can make money from recommended products on your site.

List building/marketing is a proven strategy for making sales on demand. It’s easy to build a list at your blog or on your sales letter. Use a pop-up, embed your opt-in form in the web  page itself, or use a squeeze page. When you build a list, you can follow up with your subscriber and recommend products to them -yours and others’ as an affiliate.

Step 3. Integrate an affiliate program to sell more of your products.

This will only work if you’re selling your own product or a product you have resell rights to. There are several sales and download management software scripts you can install on your website that will automate the whole sales and delivery of your digital products.

I like and use the RAP script because it has a ton of features like:

* instant payments to affiliates,
* auto-optin of your customer to your autoresponder,
* multi-product management from one domain, etc.

RAP isn’t not the cheapest sales/affiliate management script but you only need to buy it once and you can use it over and over on any number of domains. The other advantage of using a self-hosted script is that you have complete control over your website and affiliate program. You also save money because you don’t have to pay fees for listing products ora percentage of every sale.

There are a ton of web-based affiliate management services online such as Clickbank, JV zoo, Mooshpay and Paydotcom. The benefit of using these is that you can tap into an already existing JV network. Your product can get spotted and promoted by affiliates who bring you sales.

Step 4. If you don’t have your own product, yet.

I say ‘yet’, because having your own product should definitely be in your plans. You simply need a product to dominate your niche.

If you’re not selling your products from your website and doing the affiliate marketing thing for now, your main job is to get traffic to your affiliate links (merchants order pages). There are several ways to get traffic (as discussed below) but most affiliates go for search engine traffic.

Last year, I started a couple of affiliate blogs and SEO optimized them for Google traffic. It’s a fairly complex game but the rewards are great when you’re on page 1: hands-free, non-stop traffic. Not to mention it’s highly targeted.

The basics of SEO are simple and easy to understand but usually basic SEO will only get you so far. It’s the little extra secret tactics you apply that get you above your competition. I learned from one of the best affiliate/SEO marketers Andrew Hansen how he makes simple $300/day affiliate sites, so I recommend you check his course out if you want to learn affiliate marketing.

Step 5. Market your website.

In other words, get traffic to it. This is the fuel which will power your business. These are some ways to drive traffic…

* SEO (search engine marketing)
* Video marketing
* Social networking (Facebook etc)
* Article marketing (write and submit to article directories)
* JV marketing (swapping ad space on your website or in emails etc)
* Affiliate recruiting (as we talked about in Step 3.)
* Paid ads (PPC, banner ads, ezine solo ads etc)
* Forum marketing (place your links in your sig)

There are many more ways than this to market your website but it really comes down to your budget and amount of time you’ve got. For free traffic, I suggest article marketing, SEO, JV and affiliate traffic. If you want to pay for quick targeted traffic, then ezine/email solo ads are the way to go. I don’t have a lot of experience with PPC but it’s something I’m looking into.

Extra cool tip: With the traffic you generate, send it to a squeeze page so you can build a list. (works for affiliate marketing too ;)).

6. The final secret. In the end, the secret to it all is just going out there and doing it. You probably know all the things I already explained above – but they won’t help you if you don’t take action on them! 90% of success is a result of simply taking action! (10% inspiration, 90% perspiration)

Work out a plan and then break it down into small jobs. Work and aim to complete those small jobs in a time frame you decide. If you just do one small but significant
task a day, you will get a lot accomplished every week. Doing the basics leads to big things.

How To Make Your Living Online in 2012

Happy Holidays! Well, Christmas for this year has come and gone. I had a good last few days and I hope you did too.. (perhaps you are still enjoying the holiday season like me 😉 ) But as we all do when the year comes to an end, we start thinking about the year about to end and the new year just around the corner.

To be quite honest, 2011 is a year I would much rather forget. There was the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear meltdown in Fukushima Japan which shook everything up for me and those around me. Life here is almost back to normal now, but this year will be a year I won’t forget in a hurry -and not in a good way.

Of course, my internet business helped me to stay focused and headstrong. I didn’t quite achieve everything I wanted to but still a lot of good did come out of this year… (it’s always best to stay positive). I released a couple of IM related products and entered some new niches in non-IM related markets trying my hand at the affiliate blogs/SEO model.

I have to tell you that niche marketing is very addictive and fun, but it’s easy to get wrong if you don’t know what you’re doing and it can take a lot of work to see results. But if you stick with it for 3, 4, 5 or even 6 months, you’ll eventually start seeing sales come through on auto-pilot. That side of the niche blog business model rocks!

Product launches in the IM niche are good too if you create a good evergreen product and can get enough traffic to it with JV and affiliate partnerships. But it’s harder to make the sales last, even if your product is evergreen. There’s always gonna be something new tomorrow in the IM niche. So many IM products are released everyday that the life span for them is usually very short.

The same goes with any product though, as long as you get the right kind of traffic, you can make sales.  But for IM products, it’s a little hard to get JVs onboard for long-term traffic as they are keen to jump on the next best thing and forget about your product. If you can pump out a new product every couple of months, well it’s another story.

With niche marketing, or SE marketing (SEM) as long as you’re site is ranked in Google, you’re pretty much set. The hot niche related problems/keywords don’t change much and the number of product launches are much fewer in ‘niche’ markets than the typical IM scene, so you can keep promoting the same product without your campaign getting old.

I know this is starting to sound like a “product launch vs. affiliate niche marketing” type post, but that’s ok. These have become my two favorite online marketing/business models and I recommend you to get started doing one or the other, or both if you can.

If you’re just starting out, here’s what I recommend you to do. This is just going to be a basic plan of how you could start making a living online in 2012 with affiliate niche marketing. This is not a guarantee you will, because it all depends on how much work you put into it.

1. Find a product to promote (note that I didn’t say ‘niche’). Make sure it’s a product that serves a desperate niche and make sure the offer is easy to take up (i.e. affordable, easy to buy, free offer etc). It can be in an IM niche or non-IM niche. As long as you feel you can help others fix there problem by pointing them in the right direction, go for it!

2. Check how many searches that product name gets per month using google’s keyword suggestion tool. If the product name isn’t that well-known yet, then search for the keyword phrase that the product solves e.g. “how to get website traffic on a budget”, if you’re selling a website traffic course.

3. Check competition on the front page of Google search for those keywords. If there are mostly Pr4 sites and upwards dominating the front page, then try another keyword. If there are some PR2 and PR0 sites and a few affiliate sites/retail sites, then you might have a good chance of ranking on the first page.

NOTE: The more I got into niche marketing, the more I realized how important keyword research is. Get good keywords with low competition and your job will be infinitely easier! Don’t cut corners by choosing random keywords. You’ll pay for it later.

4. Once you’ve got a good keyword or two, register a domain name and get some hosting. Try to get the exact match domain for your keyword. e.g. howtorepairaflattire.com. There is talk about how this is becoming less important, but I still see a lot of EMDs on the front page of google. It won’t hurt, anyway.

5. Install WP on your site using Fantastico. Most good hosting services will have it available. Just don’t use “admin” as your admin username 😉 Don’t worry too much about a theme or plugins because your site doesn’t have to look pretty. It just has to be easy on the eye and direct people to your offer page. I like Profits Theme because it’s dead-easy to use and allows me to create squeeze pages and sales pages for when I want to build a list or sell products from my site.

6. As for onsite SEO goes, install All In One SEO Pack plugin and add your main keyword in your site’s title and in your description.  Of course, you’re going to need content so write 7 to 10 articles using your main keyword for a couple of them and related keywords for the others.

NOTE: You should be aware that a low bounce rate is now very important in the eyes of google so try to make your readers stay on your site as long as possible and click through to other sites. You want as few people to click the back button as possible!

7. Place your affiliate banners and “calls to action” in strategic places on your site i.e. at the end of your post, bnner in the sidebar etc. You don’t want to clutter your site with dozens of banner ads, product recommends or links to other offers. You want to just concentrate on promoting one product.

8. After you’re satisfied with your site’s content, onpage SEO and looks, you’re ready to go get traffic. Of course, you can start doing some promotion even with just a few posts. Don’t be one of those people who has to get everything perfect before they roll out with traffic generation. You need the mind set of “improve as you go”.. or “Ready, Fire, Aim”.

9. Your off-page SEO really comes down to which sites are linking back to your site, aka backlinks. It used to be that the more backlinks a site had, the higher it was ranked on google. But after the panda updates in 2011, things like quality backlinks (High PR and authority site) and diversity of backlinks with a lot of focus now on social sites like google +1, FB likes and Tweets etc. are what you need most of all. So remember, quality more than quantity.

10. Watch your stats in Google analytics and webmasters tools to see what your visitors are doing on your site and make changes from there. Keep improving your site to rise higher in google by adding new content, building more backlinks and you’ll be able to watch more traffic and sales come in. It’s really an awesome feeling to see your hard work pay off.

So there you have a very basic outline of how you could go about starting an affiliate marketing business in 2012. Like I said, you can choose any product in any niche just as long as it is made for desperate buyers i.e. their ‘hair is on fire’ and they need a bucket of water now!

The cool thing about learning how to make a website and get it ranked in google is that you can use it to not only promote affiliate offers, but eventually promote your own products or services some day – which is where the big money is.

Of course, list building is still a great way to capture your traffic, build a relationship with them and offer them great value deals. Even though it has taken a beating in some niches, it still works if you do it right i.e. be cool and don’t spam them!

If you can mix list building with blogs and SEO, you will have yourself a very nice little internet business you can rely on for years to come. Throw in your own product and some JV partners you’re on your way to retiring early!

I am looking forward to and plan to be even more dedicated to helping you succeed in the new year. I want you to know and experience the internet lifestyle and all the good that comes with it. You really can do it if you’re willing to work for it. I’ll be here trying to make that happen for you.

Happy holidays and all the best for 2012!
