How do you get the prospect to take that step from just being a ‘looker’ to becoming a ‘buyer’?
The best way that I’ve found to help people move across the line is to GIVE first.
Offer a free gift, free advice, a free trial or free sample.
Then put a HOT product (that they actually want) in front of them to make a sale. (note the words ‘that they actually want’)
That’s been a marketing method that has been around and working since marketing began!
It’s super hard to sell anything if you are just a random business or random person online. And for almost everyone, at first sight, you are. So if you’re struggling, try the ‘give first’ method.
The trust/credibility part comes first.
The internet is full of skeptics. I’m a skeptic myself. You probably are too.
“If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is…” and on the internet it almost always is!
As a business person, you need to break down the barrier that people automatically have when they come to your website or read an email.
Giving away a free gift or sample is one way to break that wall down.
Your job as a marketer is to get your audience to know, like and trust you and your product an move them along the path to becoming a customer.
If you’re the face of your business, then video helps a LOT to show you’re a real person and not a crazy scammer hiding behind the computer screen.
Then be in touch with them through media channels and provide useful info to your audience on a regular basis.
My #1 fav is email. I can set up emails to go out automatically. I send email on a regular basis – both via live broadcasts and automatically through my autoresponder sequence.
It doesn’t matter which vehicle you use to deliver your messages – email, facebook, youtube, twitter – just that you do it, and do it regularly.
I like to tell personal stories about my weekend adventures with my family.
Like how I stacked it bad while snowboarding last weekend! And how now I have a cold! (drat)
But I also love to share what I’ve learned about marketing. Which after all, is what my customers want to know, right?
It’s all about breaking down the walls of skepticism and building a ‘relationship’ with your audience.
If you’re the face of your business, people are buying you. Not necessarily your course.
In short, be cool. Be helpful.
And it’s easy to be cool. Just treat others the same way you’d expect to be treated.
If you’re the expert in your audience’s eyes, act how an expert should act.
Without doing this first, it’ll be hard as nails to see your business and sales grow.
