Why You Are Never Too Old to Create Your Own Digital Info Product

Been thinking about creating and selling your own infoproduct online but you feel unconfident or overwhelmed?

You might be wondering if you’re worthy of creating and marketing a product. You may doubt you have the skills to be able to start selling online.

You may have fears that you’re not smart or popular enough. These negative thoughts usually stifle your dreams of creating that ebook or video training course before you even start.

Here’s what every senior should know – you are NEVER too old to create and sell your own products. There are literally countless ideas and book titles you could create and start selling online. There is a whole group of people wanting to know what you know.

Truly, the possibilities are endless. You just need to get started. Let’s look at 5 tips for seniors or doubters out there, for selling his or her own products online.

1. You have a wealth of experience – make use of it!

With age comes experience. You may have a wealth of knowledge to share with others. If you’ve been growing beautiful roses in your garden all your life, that’s a skill that thousands of people would willingly pay to learn.

All you need to do is open up MS Word write a little book with all your advice and gems thrown in and the market will rush to buy what you’re offering.

Good with your hands and love carpentry? Same thing. Sell blueprints for woodworking projects that others can use.

But it doesn’t stop at info-products. Are you great with craftwork? How about selling your creations on Etsy or eBay.

Artistic and able to illustrate or draw portraits? Sell your services on Upwork or Fiverr. You’ll be freelancing, but let’s not forget, you are creating products here too.

2. Will your idea sell? Do a little spy work first.

Before taking an idea to fruition, it’s imperative that you ascertain if there’s a need for the product in the marketplace. After all, it’s pointless to write a book that no one wants to read or create a product that no one wants to buy.

You can check how well ebooks similar to yours are already selling on Amazon.

Look at the number of customer reviews on the product listing. If there are hundreds of reviews, you can bet that the product has made even more sales because many people don’t bother leaving reviews. If your product is similar, it will probably sell just as well too… if you do the marketing correctly.

The same applies to selling physical products. Research similar products you wants to sell in marketplaces like Amazon, eBay, etc.

As for services, you may wish to see how much the top guys are charging. For example, copywriters charge an arm and a leg to write sales copy and people still hire them.

There is demand for skilled services. Even if you’re not a professional but have the skills to do the job, you can still offer the same service and charge a lower rate. There will always be people who can’t afford the top guys and choose you instead.

3. It’s a numbers game

There’s a popular saying in the online marketing scene, “The more buy buttons you have out there, the more money you’ll make.” And it’s actually true.

That basically means that the more products you have out in the marketplace, the more sales you’ll get. You’ll never know who may stumble across your websites and products and buy what you’re offering… but if you do not create and sell your own products, you’ll NEVER get any sales at all!

So even if you put your first product online and it doesn’t sell well, don’t give up. Put out your second one and third one and keep going. Not all products you make may be huge hits but the small orders all add up.

4. You’ll build a list of proven buyers

By creating and selling your own products, you will build a list of buyers. This is potentially going to be your biggest asset in your online business. You will be able to email them at any time to build your relationship and trust in you. This is key because you want your customers to buy from you again.

A buyer’s list is something you need to nurture and take care of – and they will reward you for it. A list with a hundred buyers is many times more profitable than a list of a thousand freebie seekers. The best way to separate the wheat from the chaff is by selling your own products.

5. The money is in the backend

As I mentioned before, you want to build a list of buyers because they are much more likely to buy from you again. And, it’s much easier (and cheaper) to sell to existing customers than it is to find a new customer.

If you have sold 3 books on the Kindle store, you might have a list with a few hundred buyers. Guess who you’re going to email when your next book comes out?

Yes! You’ll email your current buyer list and many of them will quickly buy your book because they like you, your writing style and so on. They are your fans.

You’ll get sales much faster with a buyer list… and you can only build one when you start selling your own products.

Age really has nothing to do with online marketing. Saying you’re too old is just an excuse. Yes there are some technical aspects related to selling online that might confuse and hamper you, but it’s easy to get support for that. You can always outsource technical jobs if it’s too much for you to handle.
